The instructor will select topics from this list as well as others as requested by attendees:
Zoran Vidakovic COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH, Zürich
Zoran Vidakovic received his BSc and MSc degrees in mechanical engineering from ETH Zürich, Switzerland. His studies and research projects focused on turbomachinery, heat transfer, fluid- and thermodynamics and advanced energy technologies in general. In his master thesis at the Laboratory for Energy Conversion he numerically investigated the turbine performance and heat transfer of innovative cycle concepts for CO2 capture ready fossil power plants. Before joining COMSOL in April 2010 Mr. Vidakovic completed a six month industrial internship in the Aero-/ Thermodynamics R&D department of MAN Turbo AG Schweiz.
Dr. Sven Friedel COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH, Zurich
Dr. Sven Friedel is a physicist and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Leipzig (Germany) in geophysics, specializing in electromagnetic inverse problems applied to tomographic imaging. He also taught courses in, among other things, geomagnetics. For his research he focused on the simulation of electrical, fluidic, and thermal processes in volcanoes. After several years working as a postdoctoral researcher in the area of geotechnical engineering at the ETH in Zurich, in 2004 Dr. Friedel established COMSOL AB's branch office in Switzerland.
