help you get the most out of each step in the modeling process using the new version COMSOL 4 model builder.
In particular we will consider...
- Modeling with COMSOL Multiphysics
- Geometry modeling in 2D and 3D
- Specifying physics condition
- Couplings between physics
- Using expressions
- Controlling mesh generation
- Analysis type and solver choices
- Post-processing options
Day 2, 09:00-17:00
By considering a variety of models we will bring out points to help
you get the most out of each step in the process.
In particular we will consider...
- Solvers available and options
- Advanced geometry modeling
- Controlling the degrees of freedom
- Advanced and interactive meshing
- Standard and advanced post-processing options
- Non-local coupling variables (extended multiphysics)
- Using external functions in the material parameters
- Working with model m-files
According to the length of the course and the interests of the participants, some or all of the above will be considered.

Dr. Sven Friedel
COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH, Zürich
Sven Friedel ist Physiker und promovierte an der Universität Leipzig in Geophysik über tomographische Abbildungsverfahren und unterrichtete u.a. Kurse über Geomagnetismus. In seiner Forschung beschäftigte sich Sven mit Simulationen elektrischer, fluidischer und thermischer Prozesse an Vulkanen. Nach einigen Jahren als Postdoc im Bereich Geotechnik an der ETH Zürich übernahm Sven Friedel 2004 den Aufbau der COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH in Zürich. |

Dr. Thierry Luthy
COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH, Zürich
Thierry Luthy studierte Physik an der Universität Neuchâtel mit der Vertiefung in Hochtemperatur-Supraleiter, arbeitete anschliessend während zwei Jahren an der EMPA im Bereich der zerstörungsfreien Prüfung von Ultraschall auf Hochleistungskeramiken. Thierry promovierte 2003 an der ETH über Injektionsprozesses in der Herstellung von Faserverbundwerkstoffen. Seit März 2006 arbeitet Thierry Luthy bei COMSOL Multiphysics GmbH, als Produktmanager. |

Fee
The fee for this twoday course is CHF 1999 / CHF 999 (academic) + VAT including printed course material, lunch and coffee. If you book several courses at once - discounts may be available upon request. One-day participation available on request.
Cancellation/Return policies
Instructor-led training tuition is fully refundable if we receive written notification (via mail or e-mail) of cancellation on or before 14 business days prior to the class. Cancellations made less than 14 business days prior to class will be charged CHF 300. If you fail to show up to class without written notice, you will be charged the full tuition. You may send a substitute in your place to avoid a fee.
If a training course cannot take place as scheduled due to circumstances beyond COMSOL's control, we will issue a full refund for the amount that you have already paid.
